In 2010 the TTXGP ran series in Europe and North America. The first of those two series was this race, in May 2010 at Infineon Raceway. This first round, unlike the subsequent rounds, garnered a lot of attention from international press. The videos shown here document various aspects of that race weekend. One point of interest was the battle between the Lightning bike, and the Zero/Agni bike, since the Lightning bike was clearly the more powerful but the Zero/Agni bike was more agile. The clincher was the controller on the Lightning turned itself off, and Michael Barnes had to sit on the sideline for 45 seconds (an eternity during a race) to reset it. Even with that, he managed to snag 2nd place. Another point of interest was when the Norton bike, ridden by Thad Wolff, built from a vintage Norton Featherbed chassis. It turned in a very credible performance until a cotter pin broke causing the drive train to fail.

TTXGP 2010 Infineon

In May 2010 the first of the TTXGP 2010 races was held at the Sears Point race track also known as Infineon. It featured 12 teams racing, 10 finished, and an amazing battle for first place. Unfortunately this video doesn't quite capture the amazingness of the race. It did manage to capture the 50+ second delay experienced by the Lightning Motors bike due to a glitch which entailed rebooting the controller.

Electric Superbike Race - Zero Motorcycles at TTXGP

This video shows Shawn Higbee racing for team Zero Agni at North America's first electric superbike race (TTXGP). Shawn Higbee produced lap times that were only 18 seconds off of the gas AMA Superbikes. It was a great showing for electric motorcycles. Shawn and Zero Agni took first place.

This is a few clips of the Lightning "EV1" motorcycle. The motor is from a Chevy EV1 electric car. It is hard to tell from the last clip, but this motorcycle had a very distinct and cool sound. Much different than most all of the other bikes on the grid.
